Next PBS membership meeting

May 9, 2008 - PBS meeting at the Rhythm Room, featuring Cold Shott & the Hurricane Horns. Meeting starts at 8:30 pm. Admission for PBS members - $5.

 

Around town

The annual McDowell Mountain Music Festival is scheduled for Friday & Saturday, April 25th & 26th. Check the festival site for complete details. You'll notice the inclusion of PBS faves Mikel Lander & Meredith Moore in the lineup.

It's a big weekend at the Rhythm Room with three really good shows. Blind Pig recording artist John Nemeth, with guest guitarist Junior Watson, will be in town on Friday, April 25th, followed the next night, Saturday, April 26th, by the Big Pete Pearson Blues Band. Finally, a benefit for Patte Williams, hosted by Stan Devereaux and Big Daddy Dapp, is scheduled for Sunday, April 27th; minimum donation is $10, and there will be many, many special guests.

Gypsy's Juke Rockers are doing two nights, April 25th & 26th, at Hooligan's in Prescott.

Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues will be doing their usual Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on April 25th.

Jim Glass Band plays at Mickey's Brass Rail, 38th St. & Thomas Rd., on Friday & Saturday, April 25th & 26th. Showtime both nights is 9:00 pm.

KC Blues Band will be at NYC Mobsters in Gilbert on Friday, April 25th from 9:00 pm until midnight.

Derrick & the Redemptors are hosting a weekly blues jam at Jersey's Bar & Grill (Ray & Kyrene in Chandler) Saturday afternoons from 1:00 until 5:00 pm. This Sunday, April 26th, there will be a Guitar Solo Contest with an assortment of prizes to the winner.

J. Powers Band is at O'Briens Friday in Glendale on Friday, April 25th at 9:00 pm, and then at the Waterfront Grill at Lake Pleasant, beginning at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 26th.

Hans Olson continues to hold down the regular Thursday night show at Pranksters Too, Hayden & Thomas in Scottsdale, from 8:00 pm until midnight.
