Blues Blast is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, at the Mesa Amphitheatre. Appearing will be Walter Trout & the Radicals, Deanna Bogart, Harper, Eden Brent, Chuck Hall, Delta Highway, Big Daddy D & the Dynamites, and Soulcatcher. Blues Blast 2008 tickets are now on sale! The advance ticket price is $20.00 for adults and $18.00 for PBS members and group tickets (6 or more - purchased at the Mesa Amphitheater Box Office). Tickets are available at the Mesa Amphitheatre box office (480-644-2560) and from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444). Complete details on Blues Blast are available at www.bluesblast.info. In addition to Blues Blast, there will be plenty of other events happening around town that weekend: Friday, February 22nd - Blues Blast pre-party --- Blue Witch Records showcase featuring Big Pete Pearson, Dave Riley & Bob Corritore, and Tomcat Courtney, at the Rhythm Room. Friday, February 22nd - All-ages show at Alice CoopersTown with Delta Highway and The Mikel Lander Band with Meredith Moore. Saturday, February 23rd - Blues Blast afterparty --- Johnny Rawls, and special guests, at the Rhythm Room.
Jim Glass Band is doing two shows this weekend, Friday & Saturday, February 15th & 16th, at the Bird Cage in Prescott. Big Pete Pearson Blues Band kicks off the weekend at the Rhythm Room on Friday, February 15th, followed the next night by the inimitable Candye Kane, with guest Lisa Otey, on Saturday, February 16th. Hans Olson is doing Sunday brunch at Sugar Daddy's on Sunday, February 17th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Hans continues to hold down the regular Thursday night show at Pranksters Too, Hayden & Thomas in Scottsdale, from 8:00 pm until midnight. The Flamekeepers appear at Fritz's Dog House, 12032 N. Cave Creek Rd., on Friday, February 15th. Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues will be doing their usual Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on February 15th. Gypsy's Juke Rockers has a full slate of gigs this weekend, starting with a post-Valentine's dance at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix on Friday, February 15th from 8:00 until midnight. The next night, Saturday, February 16th, they head to Clarkdale to play the 1012 Lounge, and then do a 3:00 pm show on Sunday, February 17th at Hard Tailz Bar & Grill, 16816 N 35th Ave., Phoenix. Bluzone will be at the Waterfront Bar & Grill on Lake Pleasant from 6:00 until 9:00 pm on Friday, February 15th. Honeyboy Dupree & the Smokehouse Players are playing the dinner show at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Friday, February 15th, with special guest guitarist Big Daddy D. Mikel Lander is the headliner at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, February 19th, with opening act Nina Curri. Sage Gentle-Wing plays the Coffee Plantation, 24th St. & Camelback, on Saturday, February 16th at 7:30 pm, and is part of the Phoenix Music Awards show on Monday, February 18th. The latter event will be held at the Broadway Theatre, 7701 W. Paradise Lane in Peoria; time to be announced. -----------------------------------------------
