The April meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 27th, 8:30 pm, at 26th St. Blues. Appearing after the meeting will be Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues. We hope to see you there!
Live Nation presents a special benefit concert for CASA (Center for Prevention of Abuse and Violence) on Sunday, April 15th at the Dodge Theatre at 7:00 pm. Appearing will be Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Keb' Mo' and blues-rock guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa. Reserved tickets are $40; other special tickets are available. Visit www.livenation.com for more information. The annual Glendale Jazz & Blues Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 14th and Sunday, April 15th. Among the blues acts on the schedule include Coco Montoya, Francine Reed, Cold Shott The Hurricane Horns, Big Pete Pearson, Sistah Blue, Hans Olson, Carvin Jones Band, KC Blues Band, and more. A good representation of blues bands will be among the 16 musical groups playing at the Scottsdale Culinary Festival this Saturday & Sunday, April 14th & 15th. Appearing at the Great Arizona Picnic portion of the festival will be Big Nick & the Gila Monsters, Cold Shot and the Hurricane Horns, Chuck Hall Band, and Sistah Blue. Visit the Festival website for details and schedules. Hans Olson will be in concert this Sunday, April 15th, at the Rhythm Room. George Bowman hosts the big Soul Singers Showcase at the Rhythm Room on Friday, August 13th. More than a dozen special guests will appear throughout the evening. Big Pete Pearson Blues Band plays the Rhythm Room on Saturday, April 14th. Acoustic blues duo Les Izmore is at Pier 54, 5394 S. Lakeshore Drive (The Lakes), Tempe, this Saturday (and every Saturday in April), the 14th, from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues is doing the normal Friday night show at 26th Street Blues on April 13th. Honeyboy Dupree & the Smokehouse Players will be at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Friday, April 13th. One Class Act is doing the Saturday evening Pappadeaux's gig on April 14th. Showtime both nights is 6:00 until 10:00 pm. Bluzone is playing at the Crown King Saloon on Saturday, April 14th beginning at 8:00 pm. Loose Cannons Blues Band is doing two nights, Friday & Saturday, April 13th & 14th, at the Alamo in Fountain Hills. In addition to their festival gigs this weekend (see above), Cold Shot and the Hurricane Horns will be at Mateo’s Cantina at Sylvia’s La Canasta, 7th Ave. & Missouri, on Friday, April 13th from 8:30 pm until 12:30 am.
Oklahoma musician
Rev. Charlie Edmonds, the "Preaching Bluesman," will make his annual
trip to the Phoenix area to perform as an artist-in-residence at Albert
Shaw Elementary School. His "Birth of the Blues" workshop will conclude
with a concert at the school on Wednesday, April 18th at 6:30 pm. Rev.
Edmonds will also perform in concert at Pat Murphy's,
3214 E. Thomas Rd., on Friday, April 20th at 9:00 pm. Important upcoming events
The McDowell Mountain Music Festival is scheduled for April
27th & 28th at WestWorld Polo Grounds in Scottsdale. Acts of interest
include The Neville Brothers, Los Lonely Boys, Jackie

Haight Guitars, 7130 E. Becker Lane, Scottsdale, is hosting a session,
"The Tuning Blues," on Saturday, April 14th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Join
