BLUES BLAST 2007 is scheduled for February 25, 2007 at the Mesa Amphitheatre. Sista Monica will headline this year's Blues Blast, the 16th annual event. Also appearing will be Albert Cummings, Zac Harmon, Big Nick & the Gila Monsters, Tommy Dukes and the Soul Kings, and Mikel Lander. Tickets are now on sale. PBS members were mailed an order form for tickets at the special PBS members price. Complete info and artists bios are at www.bluesblast.info. The big show this weekend is the benefit for Audrey Marquez (15-year-old Avondale girl injured in a hit and run accident) at Alice CoopersTown on Sunday, February 18th from 2:00 pm until closing time. It's an all ages show and admission is only $5.
The lineup is: Sistah Blue plays the Rhythm Room on Friday, February 16th, followed the next night by Lady J on Saturday, February 17th. Appearing in concert at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, February 21st is international recording artist Alvin Youngblood Hart, with opening act Paris James & Bob Corritore. Tickets are $18 in advance, available at the bar and from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444) One Class Act is at Dillon's, in Glendale, from 7:00 - 11:00 pm on Friday, February 16th (duo only), and at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Saturday, February 17th starting at 6:00 pm (full band). Honey Boy Dupree and the Smokehouse Players will be providing the Mardi Gras atmosphere at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Tuesday, February 20th starting at 4:00 pm Cold Shott & the Hurricane Horns will be swingin' at Tequila On The Rocks, at the Buttes in Tempe, on Saturday, February 17th from 8:30 pm until 12:30 am. The J. Powers Band is at Mateo, next to Sylvia's Restaurant, 7th Ave. & Missouri, on Friday, February 16th from 8:30 pm until 12:30 am, and at Bikini J's, at Lake Pleasant, on Saturday, February 17th, from 7:30 to 11:30 pm. In addition, the band will be providing the music for the Amsterdam Fat Tuesday Party, at the Amsterdam Bar, 718 N. Central, on Tuesday, February 20th. NightShift, featuring guitarist Tommy Grills and vocalist The Chief, is at Hooligan's, on Whiskey Row in Prescott, on Friday, February 16th.
