Blues Blast 2008 details

The next Blues Blast is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, at the Mesa Amphitheatre. Please take note that this year's show will be held on a Saturday instead of on Sunday.

Appearing will be Walter Trout & the Radicals, Deanna Bogart, Harper, Eden Brent, Chuck Hall, Delta Highway, Big Daddy D & the Dynamites, and Soulcatcher.

Tickets will go on sale next week. Check the Blues Blast site (www.bluesblast.info) periodically for updated information, including a list of special events on Blues Blast weekend. Send email to be added to the volunteer list.

Around Town

KC Blues appears at NYC Mobsters, Inc, 1431 E. Williams Field Rd., Gilbert from 8:00 to 10:00 pm on Friday, December 14th.

The annual Harmonica Showcase, featuring appearances by just about every harp blower in town, will be held at the Rhythm Room on Tuesday, December 18th. Host band will be Bill Tarsha & the Rocket 88s.

Gypsy's Juke Rockers are playing at Rockin B Saloon in Cottonwood on Friday, December 14th from 9:00 pm until 1:00 am, and then at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen on Saturday, December 15th from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.

Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues will be doing their usual Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on December 14th.

The hottest blues band on the scene, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, hits the Rhythm Room this Friday, December 14th. Tickets are $15, available from the bar and at all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444).

Sistah Blue has two upcoming shows at the Rhythm Room on Saturday, December 15th and Friday, December 21st.

Former Muddy Waters bandmate Paul Oscher appears in an early show at the Rhythm Room on Friday, December 21st, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

The Smokin' Section is playing at the French Quarter, Grant Rd., Tucson, on Friday, December 14th from 8:00 pm until midnight.
