Blues Blast 2008 details

Walter Trout

The next Blues Blast is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, at the Mesa Amphitheatre. Please take note that this year's show will be held on a Saturday instead of on Sunday.

Appearing will be Walter Trout & the Radicals, Deanna Bogart, Harper, Eden Brent, Chuck Hall, Delta Highway, Big Daddy D & the Dynamites, and Soulcatcher.

Ticket information will be announced soon. Check the Blues Blast site (www.bluesblast.info) periodically for updated information. Send email to be added to the volunteer list.

Around Town

Blues guitar hero Coco Montoya hits the Rhythm Room next week for a concert on Tuesday, December 4th. Advance tickets are $14 in advance and $16 on the day of show, available from the bar and at all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444).

Both Bluzone and The Flamekeepers will be part of an all-day benefit at the Lucky Devil, 1212 E. Apache Blvd, Tempe, on Saturday, December 1st. Proceeds go to a friend of the music scene whose newborn baby will require multiple surgeries. Check Ray Ray's site for more details.

The Flamekeepers will also be playing on Friday, November 30th from 9:00 pm until midnight at Fritz's Dog House, 12032 N. Cave Creek Rd. (corner of Cave Creek and Cactus).

Local blues and soul legend George Bowman will be celebrating his birthday at the Rhythm Room on Friday, November 30th.

The Fremonts head over from San Diego to appear at the Rhythm Room on Saturday, December 1st.

HoneyBoy Dupree & the SmokeHouse Players will be doing two nights at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen on Friday & Saturday, November 30th & December 1st, from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.

Gypsy's Juke Rockers heads north for three shows this weekend. The band will be at the Spirit Room in Jerome from 2:00 until 6:00 pm on both Friday & Saturday, November 30th & December 1st, and at Sportsman Chalet in Strawberry on Saturday, December 1st from 8:00 until midnight.

Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues will be doing their usual Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on November 30th.
