Showdown Finals This Sunday!!!

The Final round of the 17th annual Arizona Blues Showdown is scheduled for this Sunday, November 18th, at Alice Cooperstown. Admission is only $6. The preliminary rounds last week were very competitive, so this Final round is expected to be a dynamite blues show!

Congratulations to the following finalists: The Mikel Lander - Meredith Moore Band, The JIm Glass Band, 56 Deluxe, The Dangerous Shoes, Big Daddy D & the Dynamites, and Nightshift with the Chief.

Around Town

Legendary blues piano man Pinetop Perkins makes a rare appearance in town this Saturday night, November 17th, at the Rhythm Room. The 94-year-old Perkins will be backed by The Rhythm Room All-Stars. Advance tickets are $20, available from the bar and at all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444).

Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns is the featured band at this Sunday's Litchfield Park Concert Series, on the lawn of the Wigwam Resort, 300 Wigwam Blvd, Litchfield Park, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Patté Willliams will be at the Rhythm Room on Friday, November 16th.

HoneyBoy Dupree & the SmokeHouse Players host a free show at the Desert Ridge Marketplace from 7:00 until 10:00 pm on Friday, November 16th.

Gypsy's Juke Rockers is providing the dinner entertainment from 6:00 until 10:00 pm at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen on Saturday, November 17th, and then appearing at Hardtailz, 16816 N. 35th Ave., from 3:00 until 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 18th.

Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues will be doing their usual Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on November 16th.

Loose Cannons Blues Band plays at Mogollon Steakhouse in Strawberry on Saturday, November 17th. The band will also be at American Veterans Post No. 5, 3805 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, on Sunday, November 18th from 8:00 until 11:00 pm.

Get ready to swing dance! It will be a fun-filled evening at the Rhythm Room on Tuesday, November 20th when Tucson's Juke Joint All-Stars hosts a Tribute to blues shouter Wynonie Harris. Appearing with the band will be Mr. Boogie Woogie, all the way from the Netherlands. Swing dance lessons by Steve Conrad start at 7:30 pm. Admission is $10.

The Granite Peak Folk Sessions presents Night of the Songwriter, featuring Linda Bilque w/ Rochelle Raya, Sage Gentle-Wing and KC Kelly on Friday, November 16, 7:00 pm at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Hall, 882 Sunset Drive, Prescott (off Whipple, behind True Value Hardware).
