The 17th annual Arizona Blues Showdown is scheduled for Sunday, November 11th at the Rhythm Room (preliminary rounds) and Sunday, November 18th at Alice Cooperstown (final round). Rules and Application form are now available; application deadline is October 29th! ---
This event is "Help for its Kids" and will benefit Rosie's House, the Arizona School for the Arts, Young Sounds of Arizona and the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra. Saturday's show, which will run from 11:00 am until 11:00 pm, will feature Kal David & the Real Deal, Diunna Greenleaf & Blue Mercy, Eddie Turner, Cold Shott and the Hurricane Horns with Jerry Lawson, Big Nick & the Gila Monsters, The Rocket 88s, The Chuck Hall Band, Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues, Sir Harrison, Honeyboy Dupree & the Smokehouse Players, and Nina Curri. Sunday's show, running from noon until 9:00 pm, will feature Zac Harmon, Alice Tatum, Hans Olson, Big Daddy D and the Dynamites, Scotty Spenner, Jim Glass Band, Mikel Lander, KC Blues Band, Soulcatcher, and the Top Cats. Ticket information will be released soon.
This weekend marks the 16th anniversary of the Rhythm Room, and they've got a big show on both Friday & Saturday, September 21st and 22nd to celebrate the occasion. Appearing both nights will be special guest star Dave Riley, along with the Rhythm Room All-Stars featuring Big Pete Pearson, Chris James, Bob Corritore, Brian Fahey, Patrick Rynn and Johnny Rapp. Gypsy's Juke Rockers are playing at Rockin' B Saloon, in Cottonwood, on Friday, September 21st, and for the 6:00 pm dinner show at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen on Saturday, September 22nd. Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues is doing the regular Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on September 20th. KC Blues Band will be part of a big show at Alice Cooperstown on Saturday, September 22nd, sharing the bill with the BluesHounds and James Kole. The show starts at 6:30 pm. Looking ahead another week, KC Blues Band will be playing at the City of Gilbert's Saturday So Long to Summer Fest in Freestone Park on Saturday, September 29th from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Don't forget about the big Scottsdale Music Festival on Sunday, September 23rd.
