One Class Act, always featured prominently in Blues News Online, is now known as Gypsy's Juke Rockers. They've got a new website and a new CD, Blues Around Town, coming soon. You can see the band this weekend at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen at 6:00 pm on Friday, August 31st and at TJ's Bar & Grill, 1734 W. Main St., Mesa, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 1st. Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues is doing the regular Friday night gig at 26th Street Blues on August 31st Hans Olson will be at Pranksters Too (SW corner of Thomas Rd. & Scottsdale Rd.) on Saturday, September 1st. Sistah Blue will rock the house at the Rhythm Room on Friday, August 31st. King Gypsy Caravan is doing double duty this weekend, with a Friday, August 31st show at Wild Bill's Saloon, 6840 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix and then hitting the stage at Donna Jean's Libations on Saturday, September 1st. Bluzone will be at Jay's Cocktails on Friday, August 31st. The band is also hosting a number of jams around town; check out Ray Ray's jam site for a complete list of the jam sessions in the Phoenix area. One of our favorite blues buskers, Mikel Lander, will be at the Rhythm Room on Tuesday, September 4th. The Rhythm Room and the Rocket 88s are hosting a benefit for drummer Jerome Teasley on Monday, September 3rd. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Minimum donation is $5. There will be many special guests appearing throughout the evening. Tucson musicians Guitar Ray, Anna Warr, and the Bad News Blues Band will be sharing the stage of the Rhythm Room for one night on Saturday, September 1st.

Blues on the web Blind Ronnie's House of Blues has a new website at www.brhob.com. The band can be seen every Thursday night hosting the jam session at TGI Friday's in North Scottsdale. The Rocket 88s have a new address for their website --- rocket88s.net.
The deadline for the annual International Songwriter Competition is less than two months away. Check their website for more info.
Tickets are now on sale for the next Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame induction event. Check the AMEHOF site for more info. The AMEHOF needs your support! This is your music and entertainment history! Learn about all the great entertainers who have called Arizona home and helped shape our local culture. Spread the word and go to the show on Sept. 23rd at the Dodge Theater.

The most important show in town this weekend is the Labor Day Weekend Down Home Blues Festival at the Rhythm Room on Sunday, September 2nd. Headlining the show is blues legend David "Honeyboy" Edwards, who is still going strong at the young age of 92. Also on the bill will be former Muddy Waters drummer Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Tomcat Courtney, The Rhythm Room All-Stars, and Paris James. Blues photographer David Horwitz will be displaying and selling a selection from his vast catalog of blues photos. Doors open at 7:00 pm. Advance tickets are $15, available at the bar and from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444).
