The February meeting will be held on Friday, February 10th at Big Al's, 717 S. Central Ave., Phoenix, beginning at 8:00 pm; music will start at 8:30 pm.
This meeting will be a special treat, as we are featuring Florida-based guitarist / singer Joey Gilmore, the recent winner of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Admission price for PBS members for this very special show is only $5. (Editors Note: I had the privilege of seeing Mr. Gilmore's championship performance in Memphis. While the other acts in the Finals came out full bore with an excess of high energy, Gilmore just walked onto the stage and merely played the blues. He didn't have to try to send his performance over the top; instead, he just played the blues ... and played them very well. It was a real treat to see a seasoned blues veteran in action, doing what he does best. I highly recommend this show to all PBS members and friends. --- Bill) We are seeking acts, clubs, and other potential venues to host upcoming shows. We are also seeking your ideas, suggestions, and feedback to create fun, exciting events that will benefit the entire blues community. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Gil Andrews, Event & Membership Coordinator, at 602-670-5541 or by e-mail, and as always, thanks for keeping the blues alive. Check the list of Sponsors and discounts for the PBS membership meetings.

blues drummer. I am looking to get hooked up with a local blues band. I
am not looking for a full time job, I have one already. I am looking to
play some good blues a couple times a month. I have great equipment, and
can sing back up and harmonize. I am responsible. If I say I'll be
there, I will be there. I am not interested in starting a new project.
If you have all the other pieces in place and just need a drummer, I'm
your guy. Give me your song list and a couple weeks to learn them, and
I'll be ready to play out. Blues, blues rock, shuffle, double shuffle,
flat tire, funky, or 4/4 rocknroll, I can play it. I have no other
projects going so you will get my full attention. I play DW PDP drums,
Zildjian "A" cymbals. --- Bob - Email:
azblues@cox.net Not your typical wannabe harp player ... I have my chops
down. Play Chicago-style blues harp ... somewhere between Little Walter,
Magic Dick, and Charlie McCoy. Although of mature years, I prefer my blues
with a youthful look and attitude and a rock edge. Don't mind jamming to
establish a chemistry. Would prefer to practice one or two days a week to
get a set list together and a sound down, eventually playing out one or two
nights a month. I'm also a competent lead guitarist, currently playing
part-time in a three piece blues rock band, so I can add some guitar chops
when necessary. Contact rmaack@cox.net ------------------------------------------ Blues Blast tickets now
