Congratulations to Mikel Lander and Tommy Dukes and the Soul Kings for being selected to represent Arizona in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis next January. These two acts finished 1 - 2 in the finals of last Sunday's Arizona Blues Showdown. Lander will participate in the solo/duo contest in Memphis, while the Dukes ensemble will compete in the band contest. Watch for news of upcoming benefits to help these musicians get to Memphis. Other contestants in the Showdown finals were Honeyboy Dupree and the Smokehouse Players, who finished in third place, 56 Deluxe, KC Blues Band, and Sir Harrison and the Blues Kings. Kudos to all for a great blues show!
