The big show this week is an appearance by legendary piano player Pinetop Perkins, backed by the Rhythm Room All-Stars, this Friday, October 27th, at the Rhythm Room. Admission is $20. Sistah Blue hosts a Halloween party at the Rhythm Room on Saturday, October 28th. Appearing in concert at the Rhythm Room on Monday, October 30th will be James Hunter, with opening act Big Sandy. Advance tickets are $15, available at the bar or from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444); admission cost on the day of the show is $20. Big Nick & the Gila Monsters are playing a special gig at the Desert Botanical Garden from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 27th. For ticket info, call 480-941-1225. One Class Act is at Casa Rincon, in Sedona, on Friday, October 27th from 9:00 pm until 1:00 am, and at Geordie's at the Wrigley Mansion, from 7:00 - 11:00 pm on Saturday, October 28th. Jimmy Peyton's Midnite Blues is at 26th Street Blues, 2547 E. Indian School Rd., on Saturday, October 28th, for a Halloween costume party. Cold Shott & the Hurricane Horns will be part of the 12th annual NA Blues Festival at Tempe Kiwanis Park on Sunday, October 29th. Their slot will be from 2:00 - 3:30 pm. The annual Blues Women and Friends Festival is scheduled for this Saturday, October 28th, from 1:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Bar, 1212 E. Apache Blvd. Tempe. This event benefits Every Nation's Child / Unicef. Check the event site for a complete list of performers. Down Tucson Way, the Smoking Section Band has a pair of gigs this weekend: Friday, October 27th at Ventana Canyon Resort, from 10:00 pm until 1:00 am, and on Saturday, October 28th at the Stadium Grille, from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am.
In Memoriam Longtime PBS favorite and blues harmonica legend
Snooky Pryor passed away last week at the age of 85. Snooky was one
of the featured performers at our very first festival in 1992. He will
be missed.
