Don't miss the First Annual Induction Ceremony of the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame on Sunday, April 17th, 4:00 pm at the Dodge Theatre. Featured performers include Glen Campbell, Jessi Colter, Charles Lewis, R. Carlos Nakai, Mark Guerrero, The Blazers, plus members of the Gin Blossoms, the Pistoleros and special surprise guests! 22 people will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at this event! Tickets are available at the Dodge Theatre and from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444). Download a flyer for the event in pdf format. The Rhythm Room will host an AMEHOF afterparty that evening, Sunday, April 17th, hosted by Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns, beginning at 8:00 pm.
Common Ground Blues play at the Gold Canyon Yacht Club on Saturday, April 16th. One Class Act will be at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Saturday, April 16th from 6:00 until 10:00 pm, and then JC and Gypsy will be doing the duo thing at Sugar Daddy's on Monday, April 18th from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. One Class Act's next Sunday Showcase is scheduled for the Rhythm Room on April 24th, with many special guests. Big Nick & The Gila Monsters have another "wine" gig on Saturday, April 16h, appearing at the Terroir Wine Pub. The Monsters will then be at the Rhythm Room on Friday, April 22nd. In addition to their appearances at the Glendale Jazz & Blues Festival and the AMEHOF events (listed elsewhere in this issue), Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns is also playing at the Maricopa County Fair on Saturday, April 16th from 7:00 pm until midnight. The fair is being held at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. Loose Cannons Blues Band is appearing at the Wigwam Resort, located on the west side of Phoenix, every Friday and Saturday through April from 8:00 until midnight, playing an entertaining mix of blues and jazz. Tommy "Bluzman" Grills is appearing every Thursday at Pranksters 2, SW corner of Hayden & Thomas, Scottsdale, and every Saturday at the Pranksters 1, Broadway Rd. just east of Rural, Tempe. Shows at both locations start at 8:30 pm. Midnite Blues will be at Crazy Jim's Restaurant on Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd. The Smoking Section

Friday, April 15th, at Acacia at St. Phillips Plaza on Saturday, April
16th, and at the Pima County Fair on Monday, April 18th and Wednesday,
April 20th.
East coast acoustic blues veteran Chuck Owston, known as the "Pennsylvania Nite Owl," will make a rare Valley appearance on Tuesday, April 26th at Barwinkle's, 5930 W. Greenway, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm. Owston has been doing American roots music for over 45 years, playing a variety of instruments, including harmonica, National steel slide guitar, and mandolin. One of his songs, "Home Fried Blues," was used in a television documentary on Pennsylvania diners. There will be no cover charge for Owston's Phoenix show.

The annual Glendale Jazz & Blues Festival is slated for April 15th - 17th, with blues acts Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns, Blues Ratio, Big Pete Pearson, Big Daddy D & The Dynamites, Chuck Hall, Stan Devereaux, Carvin Jones Band, and Sistah Blue scheduled to appear. It's free! Visit the City of Glendale web site for details. The McDowell Mountain Music Festival is happening on April 29th & 30th at WestWorld Polo Grounds in Scottsdale. There's a whole array of national and local talent, with blues acts Solomon Burke, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks Band, and local favorite Hans Olson on the bill. Check the festival web site for complete details. ALERT: The McDowell Mountain Music Festival organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the event. The first Phoenix Jazz & Blues Festival is scheduled for May 7th & 8th at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix.
