PBS Membership Meeting

The March meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 16th, beginning at 7:30 pm, at the Rhythm Room.

Right after the meeting will be a benefit for Chico Chism, hosted by One Class Act, with many, many special guests. There will be two raffles, including the giveaway of a guitar.

Come on out and show your support for one of our true blues legends!

 

Around Town

The Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame will hold a benefit for this non-profit organization and a tribute to Steve Dodge on Sunday, March 21st at the Rhythm Room beginning at 8:00 pm. The show will feature The Vibratos, plus many special guests. Admission is only $5.

Midnite Blues is appearing at Crazy Jim's, 1401 E Bell Road, on Saturday, March 19th, with the music starting at 8:30 pm.

Common Ground Blues is at Skipper's Lounge in Glendale on Saturday, March 19th.

One Class Act will be at Pappadeaux's Seafood Restaurant on Saturday, March 19th from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.

Loose Cannons Blues Band is appearing at the Wigwam Resort, located on the west side of Phoenix, every Friday and Saturday until April from 8:00 until midnight, playing an entertaining mix of blues and jazz.

The Smoking Section Band has a couple of Tucson gigs this week, playing a Thursday St. Patrick's Day show at Acacia at St. Philips Plaza beginning at 6:00 pm and then at the French Quarter on Friday, March 18th at 9:30 pm.

Big shows coming soon

Sun Sounds annual Great Arizona Blues Festival is scheduled for April 2nd & 3rd at the Arizona Center. Among the blues acts on this year's show are Big Nick & The Gila Monsters and Uvon & the Amazing Blues Wizards. For more info or to buy tickets online, check the festival website at www.azbeer.com.

Blues harmonica legend James Cotton, along with blues drummer Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, will be at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, March 23rd at 8:00 pm. Advance tickets are $25, available at the bar or from all Ticketmaster outlets (480-784-4444). This will be a "patio smoking only" show.

Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns is one of the bands performing at the Rockin' Blues and R&B Fest at the Longshot, 74th St. & McDowell in Scottsdale, on Sunday, March 27th. The show, which will run from 3:00 until closing time, will also feature Jim Glass Band, Hans Olson, and Chuck Hall. The show will be broadcast live over the internet.
