PBS Membership Meeting

The November meeting will be held on Friday, November 18, beginning at 7:00 pm, at Skipper's, 6124 N. 43rd Ave., Glendale. Appearing will be The Lynwood Flyers and The Groove Defenders.

Members can see two great acts for only $2 (nonmembers $8), so this is a great opportunity to become a member or renew your membership. Nonmembers can join PBS at the door and see the show for $2, plus all new members will receive a prize.

Music and giveaways begin at 7:00 pm, with official Phoenix Blues Society business at 7:45. Acts will alternate throughout the evening with a joint performance during the final set. T-shirts, hats, travel mugs, keychains and more will be on sale and given away throughout the night along with CDs and other prizes. Everyone who signs up or renews membership (It costs $15 to sign up or renew) at the door instantly receives member pricing on admission and PBS merchandise. Admission is only $2 for members ($8 nonmembers). Bring a new member and get in FREE!

We are seeking acts, clubs, and other potential venues to host upcoming shows. We are also seeking your ideas, suggestions, and feedback to create fun, exciting events that will benefit the entire blues community. Around Town

The big show this weekend is the Blues Women & Friends Festival on Saturday, October 29th, from 1:00 until 9:00 pm, at The Bar, 1212 E. Apache Blvd., Tempe. Call 480-446-7468 for more info. It's a benefit for "Every Nation's Child / Unicef." Over 30 acts will be appearing. Download the flyer for the complete lineup.

One Class Act is playing at Baton Rouge, 12221 W. Bell Road, on Saturday, October 29th, from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.

Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns' weekend gigs include a date on Friday, October 28th at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino from 8:00 pm until 1:00 am. The band will also take part in the KESZ 99.9-Clear Channel Communications 2nd annual Beth & Bill’s Masquerade Party on Saturday, October 29th from 8:00 pm to midnight the the Phoenix Zoo.

Longtime Phoenix favorites Sam Taylor & Heather Hardy return to town for a night at the Rhythm Room on Friday, October 28th.

J.D. Simo appears at a CD Release party at the Rhythm Room on Thursday, November 3rd.

Tucson's Blues Cubed hosts "Fright Night" at La Mision de San Miguel in Patagonia on Saturday, October 29th. The evening begins at 7:00 pm with a West Coast Swing lesson from Jane Morgan.

Loose Cannons Blues Band is playing every Friday and Saturday at the Wigwam Grill on the Greens, located at 300 Wigwam Boulevard in Litchfield Park, from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.

The next big PBS event will be the annual Arizona Blues Showdown, scheduled for November 6th & 13th at the Rhythm Room. Ticket info and a complete lineup will be announced this weekend!
