Dear PBS members and friends, It’s a fact of every day life that change is inevitable. Even in the Phoenix blues community. If you would have asked me three years ago when I was a green, “distinguished volunteer” of PBS would I ever be president … I would have said you were crazy. But here I am now … charged with leading the Phoenix Blues Society into the future and trying to fill a very big set of shoes left behind by our past president, Bill Mitchell. Fortunately I am blessed. Blessed to have as partners in blues my fellow board members of the Phoenix Blues Society. Together we’ve found a new energy that is taking us into the future. And part of that future is the new membership meeting format that is taking place under the direction of PBS board member, Gil Andrews. For those of you who attended the July 23rd meeting at Big Al’s on Central …. Thank You! There were a number of old time members we haven’t seen in years come out to enjoy the sounds of Scotty Spenner with Mikel Lander and Jimmy Peyton’s Midnite Blues. The energy in the room was contagious and for the evening it was good to be blue again! We’re off to a resounding start and hope to see everyone out at the next meeting, August 6th, at Billy Bob’s in Scottsdale. Our Back Porch event is coming up on August 28th at the Rhythm Room featuring Fat Possum recording artist, Robert Belfour, along with Hans Olson, Paris James and Tom Walbank & the Ambassadors. It promises to be a night of down home Delta Blues with a gritty Mississippi edge that everyone will enjoy. More changes are in the works. But for now …. Thank you for your support of the Phoenix Blues Society and keeping the Blues alive. --- Kyle Deibler
