The June meeting will be held at the Rhythm Room on Thursday, June 16th beginning at 7:30 pm. Immediately following the meeting will be the annual Harmonica Showcase, hosted by the Rocket 88s and featuring over 20 different harmonica players.
Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns is playing at Crazy Jim's Restaurant, beginning at 9:30 pm, on Friday, June 10th, with their subsequent public date being a gig at CK's Tavern & Grill on Saturday, June 18th. The J. Powers Band follows the Cold Shott dudes into Crazy Jim's Restaurant, playing there on Saturday, June 11th. One Class Act is playing two nights at Billy Bob's Saloon & Steakhouse, 2017 N. Scottsdale Rd., on Friday & Saturday, June 10th & 11th, from 9:00 pm until 1:00 am. Common Ground Blues will be at Gold Canyon Yacht Club, 8654 E Topaz Dr, in Apache Junction on Saturday, June 18th. Call 480-288-1776 for more info. Lil' Debbie & Blue Plate Special will be at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen, 11501 N. Black Canyon Highway, on Friday, June 10th. Desert Voodoo has a two-night stand at Pat Murphy's on Friday & Saturday, June 10th & 11th. PBS members may remember this band as one of the impressive participants in last year's Arizona Blues Showdown. Guitarist and bass player Fabien Roy is hosting an open jam session every Tuesday night from 9:00 pm until 1:30 am at Fat Cats, 915 W. Grand Ave. Our favorite Tucson hepcats, Bad News Blues Band, will be at Char's Has the Blues on Thursday, June 9th and Saturday, June 11th. It'll be a big weekend at the Rhythm Room, starting with a concert featuring Louisiana guitarist Tab Benoit on Thursday, June 9th; showtime is at 8:00 pm. Advance tickets are $12, available at the bar or from Ticketmaster (480-784-4444). Candye Kane will be there on Friday, June 10th, followed by Big Pete Pearson on Saturday, June 11th.
