The January membership meeting will be held at the Rhythm Room on Thursday, January 13th, beginning at 7:30 pm. Guest speaker will be Mississippi Delta artist Dave Riley, who will be appearing at the Rhythm Room that night.
Riley is a 55-year-old guitarist who has recorded two albums. He's a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and also spent time in Chicago, where he was influenced by the playing of the legendary Howlin' Wolf. While in Washington state for basic training prior to his tour of duty in Vietnam, Riley saw Jimi Hendrix in concert, another big influence on his music. Riley often performs with legendary Delta drummer Sam Carr and harmonica player John Weston, as well as his son Dave "Yahni" Riley.

In addition to their New Year's weekend shows, Poppy and the Usual Suspects will be on Channel 3's Good Morning Arizona on Monday, January 3rd, and then will be part of a Freeway Opening party on Saturday, January 8th from 9 am until 12 noon (check their website for more details).
