Other acts for Blues Blast 2005, scheduled for the Mesa Amphitheatre on Sunday, February 27th, will be announced soon. Ticket information will be available later in the year.
The October membership meeting will be announced in the next issue of Blues News Online.
The annual Fall Festival in Patagonia will be held on Saturday, October 9th. Local favorites Uvon Brooks and Big Mike Simpson will be appearing as a duo from 2:30 until 3:30. The Tucson Blues Festival is scheduled for Sunday, October 17th. More details as they are available.
Veteran blues and soul singer Vernon Garrett visits Arizona this weekend for a pair of free shows at Skipper's Lounge in Glendale on Friday & Saturday, September 24th & 25th. Garrett will be backed by the Frank Ace Blues Band. Midnite Blues will be at Craiger's Restaurant & Lounge on Friday & Saturday, September 24th & 25th from 9:00 pm until 1:00 am. Lil' Debbie & Blue Plate Special will be at Pappadeux Seafood Restaurant, 11501 N. Black Canyon Highway in Phoenix from 6:00 until 10:00 pm on Friday, September 24th. Honeyboy Dupree & the Smokehouse Players will be at Pappadeux Seafood Restaurant the following evening, Saturday, September 25th from 6:00 until 10:00 pm. Loose Cannons Blues Band will be at Copper Canyon Brewing & Ale House, 5945 W. Ray Rd., Chandler (SE Corner of Ray & Kyrene), from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am on Friday, September 24th. Cold Shott & The Hurricane Horns are at Bar Nun on Saturday, September 25th beginning at 9:00 pm. Big Nick & The Gila Monsters appear at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix on Friday, October 1st from 8:00 pm until midnight, then at the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg from 7:00 until 9:30 pm. Showdown dates (Acts from all around the state compete each year
through PBS for the chance to be selected as the Arizona representative in
each division for the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge, held
in Memphis, Tennessee) Sunday, November 7th & 14th - Arizona Blues Showdown - Qualifying rounds will be held on 11/7 with the Finals on 11/14. Sunday, February 27th - Blues Blast 2005 (An annual PBS event for 13 consecutive years and the first outdoor blues festival of the calendar year.
