About the Phoenix Blues Society

The Phoenix Blues Society was founded in 1989, and is one of 156 national and worldwide affiliates of the Blues Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) corporation based in Memphis, Tennessee. The Blues Foundation was established in 1980 to promote and perpetuate Blues music and is the globally recognized clearinghouse for the Blues.

The Phoenix Blues Society, an all-volunteer organization, supports local and
national music, Blues culture and heritage, arts education, and more. Highlights of
the Blues Society's annual calendar include the Blues Blast festival, held in
February and the Arizona Blues Showdown (statewide preliminaries for The Blues
Foundation's international competition in Memphis). Monthly membership
meetings are held at area clubs, followed by live music.
